This Father’s Day, you might find Brian and Kevin McCreesh watching the U.S. Open, as they do every year. It is one of many traditions that the father and son duo share as they meet life’s milestones together, and one that continues in part because of Brian McCreesh’s positive outlook and determined spirit.

Brian McCreesh and his son, Kevin, have a special bond. While their personalities are quite different – Brian is outgoing while Kevin is more reserved – they share a unique friendship for a father and son. The two golf and fish together, and Brian even served as best man in Kevin’s wedding!

Since Brian McCreesh moved to Sunnyside Manor from North Carolina three years ago, both father and son are happy with the stability and ease of living near each other, which enables them to spend more time together sharing their favorite family activities.

On pleasant weekends, you may find Mr. McCreesh stepping out for a fishing trip with Kevin. At other times, you’ll find Mr. McCreesh making a big impression here at Sunnyside Manor! You can find him enjoying a book on the porch, surrounded by his pals, and he is a regular at social events, always lighting up the room with a big smile and his positive outlook.

With all of that energy, it might be surprising to learn that Mr. McCreesh was very ill when he moved here from North Carolina three years ago. He came to Sunnyside Manor as a resident of our skilled nursing neighborhood. With the help of physical therapy, the support of his family and Sunnyside caregivers, and a lot of determination, Mr. McCreesh’s health steadily improved. As he became stronger and more independent, he moved to Sunnyside Manor’s ‘Independence Plus’ assisted living neighborhood.

“We now consider the caregivers at Sunnyside a part of our family,” Kevin shared with us.

These days, you’ll find Mr. McCreesh with a smile on his face, enjoying what each day brings, and encouraging others to do the same. As he says, “You gotta stay positive and upbeat!”

Special thanks go to Brian McCreesh and Kevin McCreesh for being a “Sunnyside Story.” We are delighted that you are a part of our family, and we look forward to your continuing good health and good stories!

All of us at Sunnyside Manor wish you a happy Father’s Day, as we honor the fathers in our families and the special men in our lives.
