Welcome, Santa Jim!

The holiday season is such an exciting time! Colorfully wrapped gifts, holiday music, and twinkling lights make December so festive and bright. Just as each song, party, and greeting reminds us of the joy the season brings, we are also reminded of how fortunate we are to be able to give to those in our local community.

Here at Sunnyside Manor, we have a personal approach to giving. Our staff and resident “Santa’s Helpers” have teamed up with “Santa Jim.” Santa Jim is a local truck driver and friend of Sunnyside Manor who has led efforts to collect gifts for families in need at Christmas since 2013. This year, we welcome Santa Jim as he collects gifts for families that Sunnyside Manor “adopted” for the holidays.

“We thought it made the holiday special,” said Sunnyside Vice President John Keane, Jr. “Special for our residents, and brighter for those who are facing difficult family situations. We recognize that for families who have experienced a loss or illness this year, the holidays can be challenging.”

In the coming weeks, Sunnyside Manor will be giving to two families: a family of a mother, father, and two boys in Jackson, who are doing the hard work of managing the mother’s multiple surgeries for a rare brain disease. We’re gathering together our staff and residents to help make the holiday a little brighter and easier, with toys for the kids, restaurant gift cards, and a gift card to a spa for the mom, for a requested makeover and “me” time. Our staff and residents are also providing and wrapping gifts for two boys in Freehold, who sadly lost their father to cancer earlier this year.

All gifts are supplied by Sunnyside Manor and lovingly wrapped by resident “Santa’s Helpers.” Gifts will be delivered under the tree by Santa Jim in time for Christmas.

As we celebrate the holidays and look ahead to the new year, we’re thankful to everyone who helps make Sunnyside Manor such a special place, and we are honored to be able to give back to our community.
